We aim to change the cashew value chain by bringing to you a delicious and healthy nut that is also good for people and planet. All our cashew is certified organic and about half also fair-trade. By processing locally in Burkina, we reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to local economic development. We employ over 2,300 people and source from over 3,000 local farmers.

Purpose

Did you know that more than 70% of all cashew consumed in the world outside India is processed by Vietnamese factories but is grown in Africa? To us this makes no sense. Local processing improves transparency, eliminates wasteful transport, helps to develop the local economy, and has positive impact on communities. All our cashew is sourced within a 150-kilometer radius from our processing facility.

What is wrong with the cashew market?

Africa grows almost 60% of the world cashew crop but processes less than 5%. The vast majority of raw cashew nuts is exported to India and Vietnam

Anatrans and Burkina Faso farmers

We work with over 3,000 farmers, who own over 20,000 hectares of organic certified cashew plantations, to source the best quality cashews of Burkina Faso.

Social impact for factory workers

We employ over 2,300 workers. 85% of them are female and about 60% is illiterate. The work in our factory is a way out of poverty and the salaries earned help pay for the basic needs of the family and to build up savings.
